Brand guidelines

Logo usage

  • Link to the Placer Toolkit website or GitHub repository.

  • Indicate integration or support for Placer Toolkit within your website or product.

  • Use our logo in promotional content like blog posts and videos about Placer Toolkit.

Things to avoid

  • Use or include the Placer Toolkit logo in your app or website logo or as part of your brand’s main identity.

  • Modify the fundamental geometry or “distort” the aspect ratio of the logo in any way.

  • Sell products featuring the Placer Toolkit logo without prior consent.

Technical implementation

While the logo is protected under CC BY-ND 4.0, we authorise the following technical modifications (Section 2(a)(4)) to ensure the logo remains functional and accessible in modern development environments.

  • UI state styling: You may apply CSS filters (e.g., grayscale(), brightness()) to the logo to indicate UI states, such as inactive or hover states.
  • WCAG accessibility: You may change the text colour of the wordmark in the logo slightly to maximise legibility and fit into your site design, although it is discouraged.
  • Responsive scaling: You may resize the logo, as long as its aspect ratio is maintained and the height of it is at least 28 px.

We are allowed to set the barrier of technical modifications, so under Section 2(a)(4) and these changes do not constitute “adapted material”.

Minimum size

The Placer Toolkit logo and wordmark should always be at least 28 px tall in digital applications and 8 mm tall in print applications.

Product naming and voice

The product name Placer Toolkit does not receive the definite article “the” when used as a standalone proper noun.

However, the definite article “the” is required when Placer Toolkit is used to modify a common noun (e.g., logo, documentation, feature). In these cases, the article applies to the common noun, not the product name itself.

Correct usage:

  • Placer Toolkit is a web component library.

  • The Placer Toolkit logo is meticulously designed to resemble a puzzle piece.

Incorrect usage:
